In my last position at an international manufacturing enterprise, I was the principal manager in support of the Disaster Recovery Program, and directed the company’s division-wide IT Disaster Recovery planning efforts. I managed the global data center and supervised the Operations and Help Desk units, supporting 1,000 users in multiple countries on a 24x7 basis, with an operating budget of $2,000,000. I developed multi-system disaster backup and recovery procedures and high availability options. Previously, I was a consultant to insurance, utilities, retail, grocery, and manufacturing industries, where I performed disaster backup and recovery planning, project management, and systems engineering. I also have extensive technical expertise supporting midrange computer systems, system software, and vendor application packages.
I am a volunteer with the American Red Cross, working as a Disaster Action Team member. In the Family Services function, we provide individual family assistance through a casework process to victims of disasters through on-site and referral assistance. Activities and services primarily provide for immediate needs (housing, clothing, feeding, essential item replacement). In the Mass Care function, we provide congregate shelter facilities, fixed and mobile feeding services, and supply distribution for disaster victims and emergency workers.
Also with the American Red Cross, I work as a Government Liaison Representative. I perform liaison activities with government authorities and private agencies and/or organizations with disaster victims. I recently performed Government Liaison activities in the Connecticut Emergency Operations Center through participation in TOPOFF3 – an international full-scale terrorist attack exercise, directed by Homeland Security Presidential Directives.
I am a board member of the Association of Contingency Planners, and a member of the New England Disaster Recovery Information X-Change.
